What is Imperata Cylindrica?

A plant of the grass family found in Asia and Florida. It helps maintain the best possible ratio between intracellular and extracellular water concentrations.

Imperata Cylindrica: The Results

We tested the skin moisturizing effect on the legs of 15 women. The moisturizing gel containing Imperata Cylindrica extract was compared to a placebo (the same gel without the plant extracts). The skin's moisture level was measured by the skin's electrical capacitance using a corneometer, a technique commonly used in cosmetology. Indeed, the electrical properties of the skin's surface layers are closely linked to its water content.

Therefore, the gel containing the Imperata Cylindrica extract clearly demonstrates a strong moisturizing power since not only is skin hydration increased by 25% to 28% compared to the beginning of the test, but, in addition, this effect is perfectly constant for at least 8 hours and remains remarkable even after 24 hours.

Cosmetic compositions containing the extract of this plant help maintain skin tone at its optimum level thanks to a significant long-lasting moisturizing effect, which provides a powerful anti-wrinkle effect that counteracts the harmful effects of aging, pollution and other physical or chemical aggressions.
